The human rights approach to development
This article looks at human rights and in particular the application of a human rights framework to the distribution of aid or development assistance. In the context of the recent launch of the IYP Commission into Globalisation, which seeks to identify the rules and process that impact upon young people in this increasingly connected world, it is useful to note that human rights are a set of global rules that regulate governments and states and that have the potential to be used by communities and NGOs to challenge existing inequalities.
