MFAT Human Rights Division Consultation
Date: Friday, 1 October 2004
Time: 10am - 12 noon
Venue: 12th floor Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade,
195 Lambton Quay, Wellington
This is the first of a series of thematic consultations that the Division
intends to hold. The agenda for this meeting has been confined to:
- disability rights
- indigenous rights
- women's rights (note that a separate consultation will be held on 'Beijing
+ 10')
- rights of the child
- right to development
The focus of these discussions is the upcoming session of the UNGA Third
Committee. The HRD is looking to discuss the agenda items in this
context rather than in a broader sense. They see the consultation as an
opportunity to hear participants views on this year's session and to provide
an update on HRD priorities.
Individuals or organisations focusing on one or more of the above areas are
welcome to attend. Please RSVP by 29 September to admin@humanrights.net.nz or info@cid.org.nz.
