Somalia's Staggering Scale of Need
Somalia is one of the most neglected crises in the world today. Refugees International traveled to Somalia in March, where we discovered an immense gap between the needs of Somalis and the corresponding humanitarian response. One million people are displaced within Somalia, but rising security concerns leave agencies struggling to supply food, water, health care, and other basic aid. As peacebuilding advocate Erin Weir said in RI's blog, "What is needed here…is not just grand gestures. Somalia needs an honest, impartial engagement on issues such as the ongoing human rights abuses displacing thousands."
