Living the Story: The Civil Rights Movement in Kentucky - A film produced by Betsy Brinson
When the U.S. Supreme Court ruled school segregation illegal in 1954, the stage was set for a small minority – about twelve percent of the population – to begin the long, brave struggle to gain the civil rights available to white Americans. Fortunately, they had help from leaders like Martin Luther King. This is their story in the small, rural state of Kentucky. Living the Story: The Civil Rights Movement in Kentucky is an award-winning film produced by historian Betsy Brinson and co-directed by Arthur Rouse and Joan Brannon, and sponsored by the Kentucky Oral History Commission. These showings are sponsored in part by the New Zealand Oral History Association (NOHANZ). Film entry: $8.00 ($6.00 concession)
