Decolonisation seminar: 'The Waitangi Tribunal, history and decolonisation'
No.4 of a series of 6: Ewan Morris - historian, ex-Waitangi Tribunal. This talk will look at the role of the Waitangi Tribunal, and its approach to history and colonisation in Aotearoa New Zealand. It will consider whether or not the Tribunal is involved in 'decolonisation', and how this attempt to grapple with the historical legacy of colonisation compares with processes in other countries. Ewan Morris is a historian who has worked on Australian, Irish and New Zealand history. He was a Report Writer at the Waitangi Tribunal from 1999 to 2002, and now works as a Research and Policy Officer at the Council for International Development, the umbrella body for New Zealand-based non-government organisations involved in overseas aid and development.
