Taxi to the Dark Side

Alex Gibney's Academy Award winning documentary digs deep into the systematised abuse and outright murder of "enemy combatants" held in American military prisons. Gibney, director of Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room and producer of the equally compelling No End in Sight, assesses the political mentality that encourages the use of torture by its military interrogators. The eponymous taxi was driven by an innocent Afghan tortured by US soldiers in Bagram. The film traces responsibility for his grueling, pointless death all the way to the top. — BG
