'The Refugees of the Blue Planet'
To launch the Climate Change issue of Just Change, Te Korokoro o te Parata, Dev-Zone will be holding a free film screening of 'The Refugees of the Blue Planet'. In 2003 the United Nations reported that environmental refugees (25 million) outnumbered those fleeing from war or political persecution (23 million) for the first time in history. The Refugees of the Blue Planet is the story of these environmental refugees, people forced to flee from their homes by climate change-induced natural disasters and environmental destruction. They are denied basic human rights to a safe environment and often left with no legal refugee status.
