The Human Rights Network of Aotearoa New Zealand Trust
The Trust Deed provides for between 5-9 Board members, at least two of whom are normally resident outside Wellington - the Board aims for representativeness without prescriptive rigidity in its structure. Each Board member serves a term no longer than four years, but may be reappointed after a gap of two years. Notices advertising vacancies on the Trust Board and calling for nominations will be posted on the website and in the e-bulletin.
The Trust Board are members of the Network acting on an honorary basis. Trustees are members of human rights organisations but serve in an individual capacity. The current Board members are Carol Nelson (Convenor), Justin Kemp (Co-convenor), Boris van Beusekom, (Secretary), Nikki Shone (Treasurer), Joan MacDonald, , Marama Davidson, Merrill Simmons-Hansen and Louise Heremia.
The limited funding of the Human Rights Network goes directly into Network services. Expenses of Board members (airfares and accomodation) are, at the moment, covered by the Board members being able to combine their trips with other work committments.
The Board meets at least twice a year, and one of those meetings is the AGM. The meeting dates vary due to the schedules of Board members - advice of upcoming meetings are posted in the e-bulletin and on the website, however correspondence can be sent to the Board at any time.
